This year, Hwy13BHL suffered the loss of one team (CFB Wainwright), so we will play a 3-team league between the Hughenden Venom, Hardisty Mighty Ducks and the CBHA Western Gold Medallist, Ribstone Creek Muskrats.
As there are only 3 teams in the league, there will be one game per night on Monday/Wednesday nights at 7:30 PM at the Hughenden Arena.
On July 23-26, the Muskrats traveled to Brandon, MB looking to avenge their loss at Provincials and hoped to bring back Hwy 13's 2nd medal from Westerns in 3 years. After a narrow defeat in the Round Robin to the BHE Redline, the Muskrats booked their ticket to the final with a victory over the Monsters.
In the Gold Medal Game, it was a rematch of the WRBHA Provincial Final as the Muskrats took on the BHE Redline. This time, the Muskrats would not be denied on the biggest stage, winning the gold medal with a 4-2 victory.
With this win, Hwy13BHL received our 2nd medal in 3 years at CBHA Westerns, as well as an automatic birth to Nationals in Kelowna next year.
Over August Long Weekend, the Hwy 13 Wainwright Muskrats continued their yearly dominance by travelling to Grande Prairie for the 2014 WRBHA Ball Hockey Provincials. In tier 4, they finished pool play 3-0 with wins over BHE Farm Team, EMBH Rush and the GP Lions Den.
In the semi-final, with a birth to 2015 CBHA Westerns on the line, the Muskrats defeated GP Off Constantly 7-0, setting up a gold medal game against the BHE Redline. Unfortunately, the Muskrats were forced to settle for a silver medal after losing the final 4-3.
Great job guys and good luck in Brandon, MB next season!
After a successful season with the Wainwright Sioux and earning a silver medal at the 2013 Western Ball Hockey Championships in Red Deer, Curtis McKinlay has been scouted and chosen to represent Team Canada at the U18 World Ball Hockey Championships.

At the 2013 WRBHA Provincial in Edmonton, Hwy13BHL was well represented. For the first time, Hwy13BHL sent two teams to the tournament: Wainwright Sioux - Tier 3 and Hardisty Mighty Ducks - Tier 4.
In the Tier 3 event, the Sioux sent a depleted lineup after their long, successful weekend at Westerns in Red Deer. Despite sending a small team, the Sioux fought hard, but fell short of the playoffs.
In the Tier 4 event, the Mighty Ducks finished the round robin in 4th place, before losing a tough quarter-final.
Thank you to both teams for attending.
After their bronze medal at the 2012 Provincials, the Sioux were given a wild card birth to the 2013 CBHA Western Championships in Red Deer from July 26-28. After a dominating, undefeated season in the Hwy13BHL, the Sioux continued their momentum to a 1st place pool finish, setting up a semi-final against the Saskatchewan Rage. The Sioux showed no mercy, winning the semi-final game and sending them to the gold medal game.
In a spectacular final game, the Sioux fell just short of a Western Ball Hockey Championship, losing the the Grand Prairie Ballers 4-2. Congratulations to the Sioux for their silver medal, which is the first medal of any kind for Hwy13BHL at the Western Championships. Also, congratulations to the Metro Ball Hockey league out of GP and to the GP Ballers on their gold medal.
After 2 seasons, the Highway 13 Ball Hockey League has been granted full member status by the Wild Rose Ball Hockey Association. Benefits include full sanctioning and continued support from the WRBHA as well as the Canadian Ball Hockey Association!
This past August Long Weekend, Highway 13 Ball Hockey sent our league champions, the Wainwright Sioux to the 2012 WRBHA Provincials in Calgary. The Sioux participated in Tier 4 and performed admirably, placing 1st in their pool and winning their quarter-final. In the semi-final, the Sioux dropped a tight overtime loss, before being awarded the Bronze medal. Congratulations to Jordan Walsh (player/team rep) and the rest of the Sioux for their strong representation at provincials!
